The menu shows the rank of the person who hid that balloon, the entry fee and the prize for finding it. A directional arrow appears over your head to point in the direction in which each balloon is hidden and you can also see the distance too. When finding other player’s balloons, you’re given a menu of 15 hidden balloons to pick from. You’ll earn coins every time another player hunts for your balloon and when its found, your balloon is popped and you’ll need to come back and find a better hiding spot. When you’ve found your hiding spot, simply hit the left directional button to lock it in. There’s a small green ring surrounding Luigi and the timer begins as soon as you leave the circle. If you choose to hide your balloon, you have 30 seconds to find somewhere in the level to hide your balloon. Luigi will then ask if you want to Find it, Hide it or view your stats. He will ask you if you want to play and when you do, the game connects to the server and you’re whisked away to the starting position to play Luigi’s Balloon World.Įach starting position is a central, often elevated spot in each map where you can scan the world and decide where you want to hide your balloon or search for one that another player has hidden. To play this mode, simply find Luigi in each stage (he’s normally floating near where you begin each stage) and talk with him. In Luigi’s Balloon World, the object of the game is simply hiding and finding balloons in the existing worlds of Super Mario Odyssey.
Last week the first DLC for the game was released and thankfully, its a completely free download! Not only does this add some new photo filters and three new costumes, but the main draw is the new competitive online game mode Luigi’s Balloon World where you can hide or hunt for balloons through the world of Super Mario Odyssey! One of the big questions fans had regarding the game was if we would ever see DLC to add more stages, costumes or challenges. Super Mario Odyssey launched just four months ago to massive critical acclaim and tremendous sales, surpassing even Breath of the Wild.
